The law for the reorganization of communities in the Schleiden district was promulgated on March 11, 1969 and restructured the communities in the Schleiden district (later district).
Before the community reform, there was already a voluntary merger of the town of Heimbach with the community of Hausen to form the new town of Heimbach in the Schleiden district , which at the same time resulted in the dissolution of the Heimbach office .
Later on, the Aachen Act brought about a number of other changes, including the Schleiden district being incorporated into the new, larger Euskirchen district.
