Alendorf is a district of the municipality of Blankenheim in the Euskirchen district in North Rhine-Westphalia .

Alendorf is located on a plateau south of Blankenheim. District road 43 runs through the village . The Odenbach flows into the Lampertsbach in the village .
history
A Roman settlement was discovered on the old Roman road from Jünkerath to Blankenheim. Then the Franks settled in the region . Alendorf was first mentioned in a document in 1271. At that time the place was called Aldindorph . It is not clear whether this name is derived from the old village or the village of Aldo .
Alendorf is one of the oldest parishes in the dean's office in Blankenheim in the Archdiocese of Cologne and is listed as Aldendorp in the first official parish and church directory in the 13th century .
On July 1, 1969, Alendorf was incorporated into Blankenheim.
Sightseeing and tourism
- The old church dates from 1494. It was renovated in 1964 and is a listed building .
- The war cemetery of Blankenheim-Alendorf is also located in the cemetery of the old church . It was created in 1948 as Kriegerehrenmal and in 1966 at the initiative of the German War Graves Commission to the war cemetery rebuilt.
- The 650 hectare nature reserve Lampertstal and Alendorfer Kalktrifte with Fuhrbach and Mackental begins near the village . It is the largest juniper reserve in North Rhine-Westphalia. In 1953, the responsible authority placed the Kalktrifte in the Alendorf district under protection. On the Kalvarienberg ( 522.8 m above sea level ), the Hammersberg ( 530 m ) and the Eierberg ( 548 m ), plants of great rarity have developed on the calcareous subsoil.
- The Eifel-Höhen-Route cycle path , which runs around the Eifel National Park , leads through the village .
