The law on the reorganization of the district of Unna was one of the first laws of the municipal reorganization in North Rhine-Westphalia , which was promulgated on December 19, 1967 and came into force on January 1, 1968. It restructured the communities of the then Unna district and also enlarged the independent cities of Hamm and Lünen .

Due to the Ruhr Area Law , the district (now district) Unna was dissolved on January 1, 1975 and incorporated into a new, larger district of Unna . The city of Hamm experienced an additional expansion through the Münster / Hamm Act .
