Werries is east of the center of the city of Hamm. In the north, the lip forms the border. The Datteln-Hamm Canal lies in the north of what was then the municipality.

history

Werries part in the establishment of offices in the Prussian province of Westphalia to the Office Rhynern in district Hamm . On the occasion of the city of Hamm on April 1, 1901, the district became the district of Hamm. After an area expansion in 1929, this was renamed the Unna district in October 1930 .

On January 1, 1968, the formerly independent communities Braam-Ostwennemar (largely), Frielinghausen, Haaren, Norddinker, Schmehausen, Vöckinghausen and Werries were incorporated into the community of Uentrop . With the municipal reform, which came into force on January 1, 1975, the municipality of Uentrop with 12,238 inhabitants on 39.46 km² was incorporated into the urban district of Hamm.

The Maximilianpark directly behind the old border to Braam-Ostwennemar serves the recreational pleasure of the Hammer population and far beyond . This runs along the railway line. The street names Grenzweg and Alter Grenzweg refer to them.

The state road L 736 leads through the northern local area. It connects Werries to the west with Hamm, Herringen , Rünthe and Lünen and to the east with Uentrop , Vellinghausen and Heintrop-Büninghausen .

The district road K 2 leads to Hamm and Uentrop, the K 10 to Braam-Ostwennemar , Osttünnen and Rhynern .

Transportation

Werries is served by lines 3 (to Werries / Wendeplatz) of Stadtwerke Hamm and 1, 6 and 18 (to Maximilianpark on different routes) from the direction of Hamm. Line 33 continues to Uentrop.
