Sandbochum is a district of the Westphalian city of Hamm . It is still a rural place to this day.

location

Sandbochum located in the northwest of the city of Hamm directly on the A 1 with its own motorway access. In the north, the lip forms the border. The Datteln-Hamm Canal crosses the northern part of the village.

Neighboring communities

In 1967, Sandbochum bordered clockwise in the north, starting with the city of Werne and the municipality of Stockum (both in the district of Lüdinghausen at that time ), the municipalities of Herringen , Pelkum , Lerche (all today in Hamm), Overberge and Rünthe (both today in Bergkamen ) .

history

Sandbochum part in the establishment of offices in the Prussian province of Westphalia to the Office Pelkum in district Hamm . On the occasion of the city of Hamm on April 1, 1901, the district became the district of Hamm. After an area expansion in 1929, this was renamed the Unna district in October 1930 .

On January 1, 1968, the communities of Herringen, Lerche, Pelkum, Sandbochum and Weetfeld and parts of Wiescherhöfen were merged to form the new community of Pelkum. This 40.65 km² large community with 25,337 inhabitants was dissolved again by the municipal reform with effect from January 1, 1975 and incorporated into the independent city of Hamm .

Streets

The state road L 736 connects Sandbochum in the east with Herringen and Hamm and in the west with Rünthe and Lünen .

The county road K 4 offers a connection to the north with Stockum and to the southeast with Pelkum.

Transportation

Sandbochum is served by the express bus line S 20 of the transport company Kreis Unna . It connects the place in the east with Herringen and in the west with Bergkamen and Lünen. There is also the T 1 taxi bus from Stadtwerke Hamm to Herringen.
