history

Lerche part in the establishment of offices in the Prussian province of Westphalia to the Office Pelkum in district Hamm . On the occasion of the city of Hamm on April 1, 1901, the district became the district of Hamm. After an area expansion in 1929, this was renamed the Unna district in October 1930 .

On January 1, 1968, the communities of Herringen, Lerche, Pelkum, Sandbochum and Weetfeld and parts of Wiescherhöfen were merged to form the new community of Pelkum. This 40.65 km² large community with 25,337 inhabitants was dissolved by the municipal reform with effect from January 1, 1975 and incorporated into the independent city of Hamm .
