Allen bordered in 1967 in a clockwise direction in the west, beginning with the communities Osterflierich , Rhynern , Osttünnen , Süddinker and Wambeln (all today to Hamm) and Sönnern and Hilbeck (both today to Werl ).

history

Allen belonged in the establishment of offices in the Prussian province of Westphalia to the Office Rhynern in district Hamm . On the occasion of the city of Hamm on April 1, 1901, the district became the district of Hamm. After an area expansion in 1929, this was renamed the Unna district in October 1930 .

On January 1, 1968 the communities Allen, Freiske, Hilbeck, Osterflierich, Osttünnen, Rhynern, Süddinker and Wambeln were merged to form the new community Rhynern. However, this only lasted until December 31, 1974, on the following day it was divided: Allen moved with the main part of this community (6187 inhabitants, who lived on 44.79 km 2 ) in the independent city of Hamm. The Hilbeck district (9.96 km 2 with 856 inhabitants) was reclassified to Werl in the Soest district .
