history

The original name for this area was Nordenfeldmark when the city was founded . On January 1, 1975, the cities of Bockum-Hövel (previously in the Lüdinghausen district ) and Heessen (previously in the Beckum district ) were incorporated into the city of Hamm together with three other communities. Bockum-Hövel and Heessen were influenced by the Münsterland . Hamm-Norden was divided roughly in equal parts into the newly formed districts of Hamm-Bockum-Hövel and Hamm-Heessen .

Border to the Münsterland

The former border with Bockum-Hövel and Heessen is a very old border to the south of the Münsterland and at the same time between the administrative district of Münster and the administrative district of Arnsberg . The borderline from the Lippe is as follows: About 100 m east of the bridge of the Römerstraße , the border leads away from the Lippe to the north, crosses the Bockumer Weg, runs north along the Herbert-Sandhoff-Weg and turns north before Mazatlanstraße. It meets the former border between Bockum-Hövel and Heessen on the Kohlbahntrasse. It then leads along this Kohlbahntrasse in an easterly direction and, as an extension, meets the Münster – Hamm railway line. There it forms an acute angle and runs about 300 m to the northwest to about 100 m south of the house Killwinkel. Here the border again forms an acute angle and runs along the bypass for about 600 m. Then it runs again in a northerly direction and crosses Killwinkler and Warendorfer Straße near the B 63 federal highway . This crosses it and runs along its eastern edge of the road to just behind the Alfred-Weber-Weg, which it follows briefly and which it crosses shortly before Vogelsang after a swivel to the north that leads to August-Schüttken-Weg. It also crosses the Bernard-Droste-Weg, the Anhalter Straße and the Sachsenweg. Then it mainly runs along the Sachsenring, crosses Heessener Straße and reaches the Lippe again.
