Otto Emil Lau

Otto Emil Lau , actually Otto Lau (born 1853 in Wismar ; died May 2, 1917 ) was a German illustrator and draftsman.

Life

Otto (Emil) Lau was born as the son of organ builder assistant Carl Lau (* 1806). On April 28, 1872 Otto Lau entered the "Class of Antiquities" at the Munich Academy of Fine Arts .

He stood out above all with illustrations for Fritz Reuter and numerous book illustrations from the “Buchnerschen Verlagsbuchhandlung” in Bamberg . He is also known as a draftsman for the satirical magazine " Der Wahre Jacob ", which Johann Heinrich Wilhelm Dietz published in Stuttgart from 1884 onwards. He signed his drawings with an "L" and the year.

Lau may have died in Stuttgart. Nothing more is known about his life.
