Westerbönen is in the east of the municipality of Bönen. Today the A 2 forms the border to the city of Hamm .

Neighboring communities

In 1967, Osterbönen bordered in a clockwise direction in the north on the communities Weetfeld , Freiske , Osterflierich , Flierich and Westerbönen . All of these communities belonged to the Unna district .

history

As part of the municipal reorganization, the municipalities of Altenbögge-Bönen, Nordbögge, Westerbönen and Osterbönen (all previously part of the Pelkum Office ) and Bramey- Lenningsen and Flierich (both Rhynern Office ) were merged on January 1, 1968 to form the new municipality of Bönen.
