geography

location

The largest part of Nordbögges lies between the A 2 running south and the Dortmund – Hamm railway line running north . To the north of the railway line there are still a few houses along Höfener Strasse that also belong to the Nordbögges catchment area. In the east the place is limited by the highway 665.

history

During the Second World War , today's Nordbögge remained largely undisturbed by Allied air raids for a long time . In the course of the air protection program , which was intensified in 1942, air protection facilities were created for the population in the immediate vicinity of Nordbögge. Instead of the high-rise bunkers, which are often built in the big cities, the decision was made in Altenbögge to build a protective tunnel below the Koenigsborn colliery site . This protective tunnel had a length of almost 500 meters and was 15 meters deep underground. With its numerous branches, it could accommodate almost 4,000 people. In October 1943 the shelter was opened to the public. In addition, many cellars of private homeowners have been converted into shelters. From the spring of 1944, the US Air Force began targeted daytime bombing of the German coal industry, so that the protective tunnel also offered protection to the residents of Nordbögge. With the advance of the Allies on German territory from autumn 1944 onwards, low-level air raids took place, which intensified during the formation of the Ruhr basin on April 1, 1945. On March 27, allied bomber groups finally launched an attack on the Bönen area, killing more than 70 people. On April 8, 1945, US forces occupied the city of Werl and began preparations for the capture of Altenbögge-Bönens. After sporadic resistance from remnants of the 116th Panzer Division Greyhound , the 379th Regiment of the 95th US Infantry Division occupied Bönen on April 9, 1945. On the morning of April 9, 1945, the parish of the 2nd Battalion / E-Company was assigned to the 95th US ID captured. From there, the F-Company advanced to Nordbögge. The US soldiers encountered no resistance. Only when the advance on Kamen continued , the advance was temporarily stopped by German troops around 3 p.m. Nordbögge was incorporated into Bönen on January 1st, 1968.

Infrastructure / traffic

Hammer Straße, which runs from Heeren-Werve via Bönen, runs through Nordbögge . It was completely renewed in the village in 2002 by expanding the roadway and setting up a new cycle path on one side. There is also a stop in Nordbögge on the Dortmund – Hamm railway line , which was rebuilt in 2002 as part of the renovation of Hammer Straße.

In 2002 the level crossing was replaced by a bypass road that leads from the Bönen motorway entrance to Pelkum; pedestrians can cross the railway line using a newly built bridge.

With the existing stop on the Dortmund-Hamm railway line and the motorway junction No. 17 to the federal motorway 2, Nordbögge, as a small part of the municipality, is excellently connected to the transport network.
