Westerbönen is a district of the Westphalian municipality of Bönen , district of Unna .

geography

location

Westerbönen is, contrary to what the name suggests, east of the central town of Alt-Bönen in the municipality of Bönen. The A2 runs through the north of the district.

Neighboring communities

Westerbönen bordered in 1967 in a clockwise direction to the north on the communities Pelkum , Weetfeld , Osterbönen , Flierich , Bramey-Lenningsen and Altenbögge-Bönen . All of these communities belonged to the Unna district .

history

As part of the municipal reorganization, the municipalities of Altenbögge-Bönen, Nordbögge, Westerbönen and Osterbönen (all previously part of the Pelkum Office ) and Bramey- Lenningsen and Flierich (both Rhynern Office ) were merged on January 1, 1968 to form the new municipality of Bönen.
