The district court of Unna is a court of ordinary jurisdiction and one of five district courts (AG) in the district of the district court of Dortmund .

Seat and District of the Court

The seat of the court is the district town of Unna in the eastern Ruhr area . The 205 km² judicial district covers the area of ​​the cities of Unna and Fröndenberg as well as that of the communities of Bönen and Holzwickede . Around 130,000 people live in it.

As an agricultural court , the AG Unna is also responsible for the districts of the district courts of Hamm , Dortmund and Schwerte .

The commercial and cooperative register for the district of the AG Unna is kept at the local court of Hamm. The Dortmund District Court is responsible for insolvency proceedings and the Hagen District Court for dunning proceedings .

The court initially resided in the former town hall. In 1881 a new courthouse at Hertinger Tor was moved into. In 1967 the administration of justice bought the former administration building of Klöckner AG. The AG Unna has been housed in this building at Friedrich-Ebert-Straße 65a since 1968.

In 1753 a district court was established in Unna, responsible for the cities of Unna, Kamen , Schwerte , Hoerde and Lünen , and in 1812 the peace court for the canton of Unna. The royal Prussian regional and municipal court followed in 1815, a royal Prussian district court deputation in 1849 and the royal Prussian district court in 1879.

The regional court directly superior to AG Unna is the regional court Dortmund . The competent higher regional court is the higher regional court Hamm .
