history

Westhemmerde part in the establishment of offices in the Prussian province of Westphalia to the Office Unna , then to the Office Unna Kamen in the district Hamm . On the occasion of the city of Hamm on April 1, 1901, the district became the district of Hamm. After an area expansion in 1929, this was renamed the Unna district in October 1930 . On January 1st, 1968 the previous communities Afferde, Billmerich, Hemmerde, Kessebüren, Lünern, Massen, Mühlhausen, Siddinghausen, Stockum, Uelzen and Westhemmerde were merged with the city of Unna. The previous Unna-Kamen office was dissolved. Within the city of Unna, Westhemmerde, like Siddinghausen, belongs to the hamlet of Hemmerde.

The state road L 881 connects Westhemmerde in the north with Lenningsen and in the south with Siddinghausen , Bausenhagen , Stentrop and Frohnhausen .

On the county road K 38 leads to the other villages Hellweg ( Stockum , Lünern , Uelzen and Mulhouse in the west and Hemmerde to the east) and beyond to Hilbeck and Allen .
