history

Kesse Buren part in the establishment of offices in the Prussian province of Westphalia to the Office Fröndenberg in district Hamm . On the occasion of the city of Hamm on April 1, 1901, the district became the district of Hamm. After an area expansion in 1929, this was renamed the Unna district in October 1930 . On January 1st, 1968 the previous communities Afferde, Billmerich, Hemmerde, Kessebüren, Lünern, Massen, Mühlhausen, Siddinghausen, Stockum, Uelzen and Westhemmerde were merged with the city of Unna.

Culture and sights

The expressionist painter and sculptor Ernst Oldenburg lived and worked in Kessebüren from 1967 until his death in 1992 . The former village school used as a studio and residence is now a museum. On the Dorfstrasse there is a former courtyard that is partially protected as a historical monument and today houses a restaurant.

A restaurant and an inn are located in the village.

Sports

A grass pitch is equipped with two football goals, which are equipped with goal nets from spring to autumn. The games and training units of the hobby football club FSG Kessebüren also take place here.
