Frömern is a district of the city of Fröndenberg / Ruhr in the Unna district , which has more than 1,600 inhabitants.

history

The church dates from the Romanesque period (12th century). During the Seven Years' War, the village and church were set on fire by French troops under Marshals Charles de Rohan, Prince de Soubise and Victor-François de Broglie while retreating in 1761 in order to secure their retreat after the Battle of Vellinghausen .

The place was incorporated on January 1, 1968.

In Frömern there is a restaurant, a café, a goldsmith's, a saddlery, a bakery, a community center , a nursing home and a cemetery. As a manufacturing industry, there is a galvanizing plant and a manufacturer of semi-finished products made of steel and aluminum.

The trains of the Hönnetal Railway from Unna via Fröndenberg to Menden / Neuenrade stop every hour in Frömern. The place is also connected by bus to the neighboring cities of Unna and Fröndenberg / Ruhr.

There are two 18-hole golf courses adjacent to the village .

From the Romanesque church of the 12th century only the masonry of the tower remains. Inside the church there is a historic organ by the organ builder Friedrich Ladegast , which has been restored.
