The law on the reorganization of communities in the Selfkant district of Geilenkirchen-Heinsberg was promulgated on June 28, 1969 and restructured some communities in the Selfkant district of Geilenkirchen-Heinsberg . 8 congregations were merged into a new congregation, 6 more were incorporated into other congregations and 4 offices were dissolved.
The Aachen Act resulted in a further restructuring of the communities in the Selfkant district of Geilenkirchen-Heinsberg on January 1, 1972. The Selfkantkreis Geilenkirchen-Heinsberg was dissolved and the previous district area was largely assigned to the new district of Heinsberg , otherwise to the new districts of Aachen (since 2009 urban region of Aachen ) and Düren .
