Law on the amalgamation of the municipalities of Methler, Wasserkurl and Westick, district of Unna

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The law on the amalgamation of the municipalities of Methler, Wasserkurl and Westick in the Unna district was promulgated on December 22, 1966 and restructured three municipalities in the Unna district . The law came into force on January 1, 1967.

Historical background

The three communities were in the west of the Unna district . In the run-up to the reorganization of communities in North Rhine-Westphalia, considerations were made in these communities to initiate their own solution for reorganization in the west of the Unna district. Although this merger came about with effect from January 1, 1967, the political attitude towards smaller communities in the Ruhr area had changed within a short period of time . On January 1, 1968, the law for the reorganization of the district of Unna came into force, with which the new municipality of Methler was incorporated into the city of Kamen after only one year of its existence .
