Wasserkurl is a former municipality and today's district of the Methler district of the Westphalian city of Kamen in the Unna district .

Wasserkurl is located in the south of the Methler district and in the southwest of the city of Kamen. It is flowed through centrally by the Körnebach , into which the Heimbach flows in the southwest Wasserkurl and the Massener Bach , which also forms the border with Südkamen , in the northeast . To the west is the Wasserkurler forest .
Neighboring communities
The former municipality of Wasserkurl bordered in 1966 in a clockwise direction to the north, starting with the municipalities of Westick , Südkamen , Afferde and Massen (all in the district of Unna ) and the city of Dortmund . Since today Westick and Südkamen as well as Wasserkurl belong to Kamen and Afferde and Massen belong to Unna, today Wasserkurl borders the district town of Unna and the independent city of Dortmund . The neighboring districts of Dortmund are clockwise Wickede and Husen .
history
Wasserkurl part in the establishment of offices in the Prussian province of Westphalia to the Office Camen , then to the Office Unna Kamen in the district Hamm . On the occasion of the city of Hamm on April 1, 1901, the district became the district of Hamm. After an area expansion in 1929, this was renamed the Unna district in October 1930 . On January 1, 1967, Westick and Wasserkurl were incorporated into the Methler community. On January 1, 1968, the previous communities of Derne , Heeren-Werve , Methler (with Wasserkurl), Rottum and Südkamen were merged with the city of Kamen. The previous Unna-Kamen office was dissolved.
On July 9th, 2009 geothermal boreholes caused subsidence. When a drilling depth of 70 meters was reached, a hole 10 meters in diameter and around 3 to 4 meters deep was formed. 46 people had to be evacuated from their homes. Damage occurred to three houses. An adjacent road had to be blocked for 400 meters.

Road links
The state road L 821 connects Wasserkurl in the north with Kaiserau, Methler, Oberaden and Heil and in the south with Massen, Holzwickede and Aplerbeck . On the county road K 39 you get to Afferde and Unna .
Public transport
The transport company Kreis Unna offers the half-hourly bus line C24 towards Kamen-Mitte and the hourly R54 towards Unna.
