Kaiserau is a district of the city of Kamen in the Unna district , North Rhine-Westphalia .

Kaiserau was built in several construction phases from 1871 as a miners' settlement for the Courl colliery, initially in the area of the municipality of Methler , and later also of the municipality of Westick . All houses before 1883 were built by the mine operating company without building permits.

The district never had an independent administration, but was subject to the administrations of the two municipalities until 1966. From January 1, 1967, Kaiserau was part of the methler community. On January 1, 1968 Kaiserau was incorporated into the city of Kamen together with the three surrounding villages Methler, Westick and Wasserkurl .

In the following years the former colliery settlement experienced strong growth through the designation of new building areas, in particular through influx from Dortmund , which lost its original character. The old settlements of Sections I to VIII that were built between 1871 and 1895 were almost completely demolished and mostly made way for uniform new buildings and the so-called secondary center. Only Section VII and Section VIII have been renovated and the main features have been preserved. The eight buildings in Section VII on Germaniastraße are under monument protection.

Kaiserau is the location of the Kaiserau sports school of the Westphalian Football and Athletics Association . Here the trained German national football team for the 1974 FIFA World Cup and 1990 . During the 2006 World Cup , the Spanish national team was a guest. In addition to the sports school, the soccer club SuS Kaiserau is located, in which Hans Tilkowski played as a teenager.
