Wilhelm Trabert

Wilhelm Trabert (born September 17, 1863 in Frankenberg (Eder) ; † February 24, 1921 in Vienna ) was a meteorologist at the Universities of Innsbruck and Vienna and director of the Vienna Central Institute for Meteorology and Geodynamics .

Trabert was a son of the lawyer and writer Adam Trabert . After completing school in Frankenberg and Vienna, he studied in Vienna. In 1889 he was a volunteer at the Vienna observatory . From December 1, 1890, he was an assistant at the Vienna Central Meteorological Institute and completed his habilitation in 1893 at the University of Vienna. From October 1, 1902 , he was full professor at the University of Innsbruck and from May 1, 1908 to July 1, 1915, professor in Vienna and director of the Vienna Central Institute for Meteorology and Geodynamics. On July 8, 1901 ( registration number 3147 ) he was elected a member of the Leopoldina .

Trabert was considered an excellent teacher. On August 23, 1914, he was appointed councilor.

In 1924 Trabertgasse in Vienna- Hietzing was named after him.
