location
Derne is in the east of the city of Kamen in the immediate vicinity of the Kamener Kreuz , where the A 1 and A 2 motorways cross. The Derner orient themselves more towards the neighboring Nordbögge and towards Hamm .
Neighboring communities
Derne bordered in 1967 in a clockwise direction to the north on the municipalities of Rottum , Altenbögge-Bönen and Heeren-Werve as well as on the city of Kamen (all in the Unna district ).
history
Ern part in the establishment of offices in the Prussian province of Westphalia to the Office Pelkum in district Hamm . On the occasion of the city of Hamm on April 1, 1901, the district became the district of Hamm. After an area expansion in 1929, this was renamed the Unna district in October 1930 . On January 1, 1968, the previous communities of Derne, Heeren-Werve, Methler, Rottum and Südkamen were merged with the city of Kamen.

Events
Probably the most famous attraction of Derne is the glider airfield on the border with Heeren-Werve. Every year in May the kite flying festival "Kite" takes place here with international participation, which attracts spectators from all over the region with its numerous unusual kites and its colorful supporting program. This highlight is wrongly assigned to Heeren-Werve in the press.
