history

The area was first settled around 2500 BC. The Romans left many traces. An inscription attests to the existence of a villa. In 1900 the remains of a Roman cemetery from the end of the Roman Empire were found. The existence of a castrum from the 11th century is suspected. A villager took part in the first crusade. In 1662, during the Huguenot Wars , the community gained strategic importance. Therefore, fortifications were built and the population grew.
