Caissargues is a French commune with 4027 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Gard department of the Occitanie region .

geography

Caissargues is located five kilometers southeast of Nîmes in the valley of the Vistre .

history

In 1904 Caissargues became an independent municipality. Previously it belonged to the municipality of Bouillargues .

Remnants from prehistoric times were discovered during the construction of the A54 . Later the area was settled by the Romans and Visigoths . The municipality experienced an economic boom thanks to the creation of two industrial areas in 1988 and 1995.
