Fons (formerly: Fons-outre-Gardon ) is a French commune with 1,506 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Gard department in the Occitanie region . The municipality belongs to the arrondissement of Nîmes and the canton of Calvisson (until 2015: canton of Saint-Mamert-du-Gard ). The inhabitants are called Fonsois .
geography
Fons is located 15 kilometers northwest of Nîmes . Fons is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Saint-Bauzély in the north, Gajan in the east, Saint-Mamert-du-Gard in the south, Montmirat in the west and south-west, Moulézan in the west and north-west and Montagnac in the north-west.
