history

Rochefort belonged to the Diocese of Avignon, temporarily also to the Viguerie Roquemaure and the Diocese of Uzès .

In the 12th century, the Abbey of Saint-André de Villeneuve-lès-Avignon in Rochefort owned the Sanctae Victoriae priory and the parish church of Sancti Bardulphi . The prior of Rochefort served as supplier to the monastery.

After that, Rochefort was the seat of a barony that included the places Domazan, Estézargues, Fournès, Pujaut, Saint-Hilaire-d'Ozilhan, Saze, Tavels and Valliguière. The Saint-Bertulphe priory was merged with the parish church to form Notre-Dame de Rochefort in 1410.
