The Grand Avignon (COGA) is a French association of municipalities with the legal form of a Communauté d'agglomération in the departments of Vaucluse and Gard the Regions Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur and Occitan . It was founded on December 22nd, 2000 and comprises 16 parishes around Avignon . The administrative headquarters are in Le Pontet .
Historical development
The community association was founded on December 22, 2000 as the successor to a communauté de communes that had existed since 1995 and came into force on January 1, 2001.
On January 1, 2009, the municipality of Entraigues-sur-la-Sorgue entered.
With effect from January 1, 2017, the municipalities of Montfaucon and Roquemaure joined the local association.
With effect from January 1, 2018, the municipality of Montfaucon left the local association and joined the Communauté d'agglomération du Gard Rhodania .
