Location of the association of municipalities in the Occitania region

The Alès Agglomération is a French association of municipalities with the legal form of a Communauté d'agglomération in the Gard department in the Occitanie region . It was founded on January 1, 2017 and comprised 73 parishes. The administrative headquarters are in the city of Alès .

Historical development

The community association was created with effect from January 1, 2017 through the merger of the predecessor organizations

• Alès Agglomération (before 2017) ,
• Communauté de communes du Pays Grand Combien ,
• Communauté de communes Vivre en Cévennes and
• Communauté de communes des Hautes Cévennes , of which, however, two communes joined the Communauté de communes Mont Lozère .

Despite having the same name as one of the predecessor organizations, it is a new establishment with a different legal personality.
