Cendras is a French commune with 1,841 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Gard department in the Occitanie region . The municipality belongs to the arrondissement of Alès and is part of the canton of La Grand-Combe (until 2015: canton of Alès-Ouest ).
geography
Cendras is located on the west bank of the Gardon River , into which the Galeizon flows, and is a banlieue in the northwest (approx. 7 kilometers) of Alès . Cendras is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Les Salles-du-Gardon in the north, Saint-Martin-de-Valgalgues in the east, Alès in the southeast, Saint-Jean-du-Pin in the south, Saint-Paul-la-Coste in the west and Soustelle in the north-west.
Route nationale 106 runs along the eastern edge of the municipality .
