Saint-Christol-lès-Alès is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Alès in the north, Saint-Hilaire-de-Brethmas in the east, Vézénobres in the southeast, Les Tavernes in the south, Bagard in the southwest and Saint-Jean-du-Pin in the northwest.

The community was called Alais until the 1920s .
