Thoiras (earlier spelling Toiras , okzitan. Toirac ) is a French commune in the department of Gard in the region Languedoc-Roussillon . The municipality is located on the river la Salindrenque , which flows east of the village into the Gardon de Saint-Jean , at the foot of the Cévennes at an altitude of between 139 m and 169  m and has 436 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017). Nearby are the cities of Nîmes (56 km) and Alès (23 km).
