economy
For centuries, the residents of the community lived as a self-sufficient source of agriculture and livestock (sheep, goats) and the numerous sweet chestnuts in the surrounding forests. Today tourism is of economic importance in the form of the rental of holiday homes ( gîtes ).
history
Some researchers consider a Roman or Gallo-Roman oppidum to be the starting point of the village's history; Corresponding finds have not yet been brought to light. A castle over the Salendrinque valley already existed in the 12th century. The place and castle seem to have been spared from destruction during the Huguenot (1562–1598) and Camisard Wars ( 1702–1704).
