geography

The small medieval village was built on a limestone ledge and towers over the Cèze River at the lower end of the Gorges-de-Cèze gorge . The Sautadet cascades are in close proximity . The town of Bagnols-sur-Cèze is eight kilometers east-southeast and Orange in Provence is about 25 kilometers in the same direction (as the crow flies). However, there is no direct connection to Orange.

history

The square created by the bombardment (on the Grand Rue opposite the church) reminds of the destruction of the war.

The 12th century castle was burned down by the Huguenots in 1573 and abandoned in the 19th century.

The place was bombed on August 26, 1944.
