Carsan ( Occitan : Carçan ) is a French commune with 685 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Gard department in the Occitania region (before 2016: Languedoc-Roussillon ); it belongs to the arrondissement of Nîmes and the canton of Pont-Saint-Esprit . The inhabitants are called Carsanois .

geography

Carsan is located about 49 kilometers north-northeast of Nîmes and about 20 kilometers northwest of Orange . Carsan is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Saint-Paulet-de-Caisson in the north, Pont-Saint-Esprit in the northeast, Saint-Alexandre in the east, Saint-Gervais in the south and Saint-Michel-d'Euzet in the west and southwest.
