history
Before the founding of today's town, there was a Celtic oppidum near Laudun-l'Ardoise , which was probably abandoned in the 6th century AD.
In the High Middle Ages there were a total of three castles: One on the Sainte-Foy hill, the Château de Lascours and the Château de Bord . The village at that time was surrounded by a small wall. The Saint-Geniès chapel , now the cemetery chapel, then served as the parish church. While the houses were initially located in the hills, the village moved further and further down into the plains over the centuries. The Gothic church of Notre-Dame-la-Neuve was built in the first half of the 14th century . There were numerous mills on the River Tave. In the 18th century, the religious community of the White Penitents built a chapel on the Sainte Foy hill.
