Saint-Marcel-de-Careiret ( Occitan : Sent Marcèu de Carreireta ) is a French commune with 845 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Gard department in the Occitanie region . It belongs to the arrondissement of Nîmes and the canton of Pont-Saint-Esprit (until 2015: canton of Lussan ). The inhabitants are called Saint-Marcellois .

Saint-Marcel-de-Careiret is located about 36 kilometers north-northeast of Nîmes and about 25 kilometers west of Orange . The neighboring municipalities of Saint-Marcel-de-Careiret are Saint-André-d'Olérargues in the north, Sabran in the east, Cavillargues in the southeast, Saint-Laurent-la-Vernède in the south and Verfeuil in the west and northwest.
