La Rouvière ( Occitan : La Rouvièira ) is a French commune with 598 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Gard department (before 2016: Languedoc-Roussillon ) in the Occitania region . It belongs to the arrondissement of Nîmes and the canton of Calvisson (until 2015: canton of Saint-Chaptes ). The inhabitants are called Roviérois .
geography
La Rouvière is located about 14 kilometers north-northeast of the city center of Nîmes and about 24 kilometers south-southeast of Alès . The neighboring municipalities of La Rouvière are Saint-Geniès-de-Malgoirès in the north, La Calmette in the east, Nîmes in the south and south-east, Gajan in the south and south-west, Saint-Bauzély in the west and Montignargues in the west and north-west.
