Ishmael Reed
Ishmael Reed (born February 22, 1938 in Chattanooga , Tennessee ) is an American writer .
Life
Reed moved with his family to Buffalo , New York as a child and attended the University of New York in Buffalo there from 1956 to 1960 .
In addition to his writing activities, Reed was a lecturer at the University of California, Berkeley and worked as an editor. He has been the editor of Konch Magazine since 1998 . Reed now lives in Oakland , California , where he was involved in the African American protest movement.
With his satirical novels he is one of the most important authors of literary postmodernism in the USA .
In 1998 he was a MacArthur Fellow .
