Isaac Mizrahi (born October 14, 1961 in Brooklyn ) is an American fashion designer .

Life

Mizrahi, who comes from a Jewish family, studied fashion design at Parsons The New School for Design in New York City after finishing school . In 1987 Mizrahi showed his first collection in a Bergdorf Goodman store . He then worked for Chanel until he switched to Liz Claiborne in 2008 . In 1991 Mizrahi won the Council of Fashion Designers of America , Womenswear Designer of the Year award.

In the 1990s, Mizrahi appeared on various American television shows. In 1996 he produced the documentary Unzipped , in which he showed the development of his spring 1994 collection. In the spring of 2006, the television show Isaac hosted by him ran on the American television channel Style Network . Another show of his was on the television channel Oxygen . He made short appearances in 1993 in the feature film A Concierge to Fall in Love with and in the television series Sex and the City and Spin City . In 2008 he made a guest appearance in the telenovela Ugly Betty . In 2009 he was a presenter on the television program The Fashion Show on the US television channel BravoTV . Mizrahi lives openly gay in New York City.
