Rees County Parishes Reorganization Act

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The law on the reorganization of municipalities in the Rees district of June 24, 1969 was promulgated in the Law and Ordinance Gazette on June 30, 1969 and restructured some municipalities in the former Rees district on July 1, 1969 .

The corresponding draft law was introduced by the state government to the state parliament on April 29, 1969 and discussed there on May 13, 1969 in the first and on June 10, 1969 in the second and third readings and passed unchanged.

The law only affected some municipalities in the district, namely the cities of Emmerich , Rees and Wesel , the offices of Elten - without the municipality of Elten -, Rees-Land and Vrasselt and the municipalities of Flüren and Obrighoven-Lackhausen. It was largely a matter of voluntary mergers based on corresponding - mostly unanimous - resolutions of the respective city and local councils; only the community of Obrighoven-Lackhausen rejected the reorganization. The city of Emmerich was merged with the municipalities of the Elten Office and the northern municipalities of the Vrasselt Office to form a new city of the same name. In the city of Rees the southern part of the office Vrasselt and the office Rees-Land were incorporated. The city of Wesel was merged with the two communities of Füren and Obrighoven-Lackhausen, which are immediately adjacent to the west and east.
