Grietherbusch is a settlement in the Bienen district of the city of Rees in the Kleve district in North Rhine-Westphalia . Until 1969 Grietherbusch was an independent municipality in what was then Rees County .

Grietherbusch is located on the northern edge of the area of ​​the city of Rees between two arms of the Old Rhine , the Grietherorter Altrhein and the Bienener Altrhein . In the Middle Ages, the area was still on the left bank of the Rhine and belonged to Grieth , which is still left bank today . The district, which emerged from an old peasantry , is an agricultural scattered settlement and only very sparsely populated. A large part of Grietherbusch belongs to the nature reserve Bienener Altrhein, Millinger Meer and Hurler Meer . The former municipality of Grietherbusch had an area of ​​4.4 km². The Grietherort settlement is not far away .

history

Since the 19th century Grietherbusch formed a rural community in the mayor's office Vrasselt (since 1928 Amt Vrasselt ) in the Rees district in the Düsseldorf administrative district . On July 1, 1969, Grietherbusch was incorporated into the city of Rees by the law on the reorganization of municipalities in the Rees district.
