Borghees has been a small district of Emmerich am Rhein with almost 400 inhabitants since it was incorporated in 1969 and borders on Hüthum , Emmerich and Elten . The name comes from the Borghees castle , which was owned by Countess Catharina von Wartenberg (1674–1734) and was given its current appearance in the 18th century.
Borghees does not have its own town center. In Borghees there is an old dairy and a horse farm. In the Borghees castle there is a wedding room of the Emmerich registry office. Borghees borders the Dutch village of Stokkum, which belongs to the municipality of Montferland .
