Reeserward is a district of the city of Rees in the Kleve district in North Rhine-Westphalia . Until 1969 Reeserward was an independent municipality in what was then Rees County .
geography
Reeserward is located downstream on the right bank of the Rhine as seen from the Rees city center . The district, which emerged from an old peasantry , is an agricultural scattered settlement and only very sparsely populated. The former community Reeserward had an area of 5.8 km². Neighboring villages are Esserden and Grietherbusch . The nearby natural areas are Grietherorter Altrhein and Bienener Altrhein . Kalkar- Hönnepel is on the other bank .
history
Since the 19th century Reeserward formed a rural community in the mayorry Rees-Land (since 1928 Amt Rees Land ) in the Rees district in the Düsseldorf administrative district . During the Second World War , one of the Allied forces' Rhine crossings as part of Operation Plunder took place at Reeserward in March 1945 . On July 1, 1969, Reeserward was incorporated into the city of Rees by the Rees County Reorganization Act .

The St.-Irmgardis-Schützenbruderschaft Esserden-Reeserward-Speldrop is a bearer of the local customs .
