The law for the reorganization of municipalities in the district of Brilon was a law for the municipal reorganization of some municipalities in the district of Brilon . Nine municipalities and the city of Medebach were merged to form the new, free city of Medebach , the Medebach office was dissolved and the municipalities of Bigge and Olsberg were merged to form the new city of Bigge-Olsberg .

The law was passed by the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia on June 10, 1969 , executed by the state government on June 18, 1969 and came into force on July 1, 1969. The law essentially confirms the territorial change agreements between the municipalities.

From October 1, 1969, the district of Brilon was called Kreis Brilon, the city of Bigge-Olsberg was assigned to the district court of Brilon on January 1, 1970 when the Bigge district court was dissolved . The Sauerland / Paderborn Act resulted in a further restructuring of the municipalities in the Brilon district on January 1, 1975. The city of Medebach remained in the shape of 1969. The city of Bigge-Olsberg was merged with other communities to form the city of Olsberg. The district of Brilon was dissolved and the previous district area was assigned to the new Hochsauerlandkreis .
