building

Outbuildings

The Brilon jurisdiction resided in the town hall of Brilon, which was built in 1250 until 1877 . Since 1877 the court has been housed in the newly built courthouse on the outskirts of the city. Like an outbuilding that was previously used as a court prison and official residence, this has been a listed building since 1985 . In 2009 the district court was expanded to include a new building.

history

The city court founded in Brilon in the 13th century was repealed in 1834 and combined with the offices of Bigge and Thülen to form a judicial office. The judicial office was connected to the regional court in 1839. From 1849 to 1879 there was the Brilon District Court with six judges .

As a result of the judicial reform of the Courts Constitution Act of 1879, the district court became the district court of Brilon with only two judges' posts, as the Bigge office had received its own district court. After the Bigge District Court was dissolved in 1969, the Brilon District Court took over its district again.
