The Thülen office was an office in the eastern Sauerland . The municipalities of Bontkirchen , Hoppecke , Messinghausen , Madfeld , Nehden , Nieder- and Oberalme , Radlinghausen , Rixen , Rösenbeck , Scharfenberg , Thülen and Wülfte belonged to the office. The administrative offices were Thülen and Brilon .

history

The Thülen office was founded on March 8, 1826 and replaced the Schultheiss districts . It was initially called the United Parishes of Alme and Thülen and included the parishes of Alme (with the parishes of Nieder- and Oberalme) and Thülen (with the parishes of Hoppecke, Messinghausen, Nehden, Radlinghausen, Rösenbeck and Thülen), the parishes of Madfeld and Bontkirchen. In 1837 Rixen, Scharfenberg and Wülfte from the mayor's office of Brilon were added. On October 31, 1841, it was renamed Amt Thülen. On September 24, 1851, the Brilon District Administrator ordered the relocation of the official seat to Brilon. On March 19, 1856, the Count of Bocholtz zu Alme succeeded in spinning off his Gutsgemeinde Alme as an official municipality, in 1928 it was merged with the municipalities of Niederalme and Oberalme to form the municipality of Alme.

In 1956, the share of agriculture and forestry in the Thulen district was 27%. Industry and handicrafts had a share of 35%. In 1961 it had 8,518 inhabitants; In 1968 there were a total of 9,277. The area was 117.25 square kilometers.

The Thülen office was dissolved in accordance with the Sauerland / Paderborn law on January 1, 1975 and became part of the city of Brilon. The files and documents are kept in the Brilon City Archives. To this day, the administrative seat of the city of Brilon is called Amt Thülen .

With an arbitrary choice of color, the basis for this coat of arms is the shield of the Lords of Thülen , which can be identified in this form for the first time on a seal from 1401. Official approval took place on May 10, 1939.
