Tondorf in the Eifel is the fourth largest town in the municipality of Nettersheim in the Euskirchen district in the south of North Rhine-Westphalia .

Geographical location

Tondorf is located in the northern Eifel region in the German - Belgian High Fens-Eifel and in the Eifel source triangle Ahr - Erft - Urft , 6.5 km east-southeast of Nettersheim; the next major city is Bonn, 40 km (as the crow flies ) to the northeast .

history

General

The town of Tondorf is mentioned in a document from King Zwentibold from 898.

On March 7, 1945, two months before the end of World War II in Europe, Tondorf, like its neighboring villages, was occupied by American troops.

On July 1, 1969, Tondorf was incorporated into Nettersheim.

Parish church

Parish Church of St. Lambertus

The Tondorf parish church is dedicated to the holy bishop and martyr Lambert .

In 1580 the dilapidated Tondorf church began to be replaced by a new building. This church was demolished in 1812 so that today's church could be built.

Transport links

  • The train stations Nettersheim and Blankenheim (Wald) are located about 8 km to 9 km from Tondorf on the Eifel line (Cologne – Trier).
  • There are several bus stops in the village , which are served by Regionalverkehr Köln . For the connections u. a. after Mechernich, Bad Münstereifel and Blankenheim the tariff of the VRS applies .
  • The motorway connection is via the Blankenheim junction of federal motorway 1 , 1.5 km away.
  • The L 194 runs through Tondorf , from which the L 115 branches off in the town center .
