The Roman Catholic parish church of St. Lambertus in Nettersheim - Tondorf belongs to the diocese of Aachen . The church is dedicated to the holy bishop and martyr Lambert . The parish of St. Lambertus today forms the community of the parishes of St. Hermann-Josef Steinfeld with several other parishes . The church is a protected architectural monument .

Building history

In a document of King Zwentibold from 898, Tondorf is mentioned, to which several "churches" belonged. This presupposes the existence of a parish church in Tondorf. The parish of Tondorf is also mentioned in the Liber valoris from 1308. In 1580 a new construction of the church began, because the old church had already become dilapidated in 1510.

In 1812 the church was replaced by a new building, which was consecrated on August 8, 1833. The church from 1812 is a simply plastered quarry stone building. The hall structure has four window axes, a clear width of 10.50 m and, with the three-sided choir closure, a length of 23.50 m. The church has an undivided tower in the south with five storeys and 140 seats and 150 standing places.

The church is not oriented to the east, but to the north-northwest.

Furnishing

The wooden high altar has a rotating tabernacle and a figure of St. Lambertus and comes from the parish church of St. Antonius in Kreuzberg (Hellenthal) .

In the church there are figures of the Blessed Mother of God, St. Michael the Archangel , St. Catherine and St. Edith Stein .
