St. Martin (Nettersheim)
The Roman Catholic parish church of St. Martin in Nettersheim , a municipality in the Euskirchen district in the south of North Rhine-Westphalia , is dedicated to St. Martin von Tours . Today the parish of St. Martin and several other parishes form the community of the parishes of St. Hermann-Josef Steinfeld in the diocese of Aachen . The Am Kirchberg Church is a protected architectural monument .
Building history
The plastered stone church was completed in 1785 and has a choir closed on three sides . The church interior is spanned by a cove ceiling. On the western side is the tower, which is crowned by a sloping pyramid helmet .
In the years 1966 to 1968 the church, which had become too small, was extended by two aisles and an organ gallery was installed. Since then the church has 400 seats and 100 standing places.
The church is not strictly oriented to the east.
Furnishing
The high altar and the side altars date from the 17th century.
Two richly carved choir stalls from the end of the 15th century come from the Steinfeld monastery .
The stained glass window "Cloak division of St. Martin" was created in 1922 in a Linnich glass painting.
