The Roman Catholic parish church of St. Gertrud in Nettersheim - Bouderath belongs to the diocese of Aachen . The church is dedicated to St. Gertrude von Nivelles . In addition to Bouderath, the parish, which has existed since 1804, also includes the chapel locations Holzmülheim and Roderath . Today it forms the community of the parishes of St. Hermann-Josef Steinfeld with several other parishes . The church is a protected architectural monument .

Building history

The oldest Romanesque part of the church consists of the first two axes of the nave and the two lower floors of the west tower. They come from a chapel building from the 12th century. In 1740 the church was renovated. In 1804 it became a parish church . In 1838 the nave was extended by three axes to five and a third floor was added to the tower. In 1892, the government architect Johann Thoma built a new choir with a round choir closure. A sacristy was added south of the choir . In 1905 the tower was increased to four floors.

The church has 180 seats and 50 standing places. The church is not strictly oriented to the east.

organ

The organ from 1926 is one of the few surviving organs from Otto Kratochwil's workshop in Bonn . Another almost original Kratochwils organ, built in 1924, is in the church of St. Maria Magdalena in Hüttigweiler (Saarland).
